Chapter 1099 Why is the top of his head so pointed when he laughs wildly?
The Bat of Laughter sensed something was amiss, but the Bat of Laughter also felt that something was unlikely.
The Batman Who Laughs began to feel his emotions fading, a sign that he was absorbing more quantum power. The inevitable reaction that followed was similar to that of Dr. Manhattan. When he first gained quantum power, he was still able to act like the Joan he once was, even experiencing worldly desires like falling in love. These desires were so strong that they even dominated his romantic relationship with Silk Spectre.
Of course, we all know what happened next. Dr. Manhattan put his hands together and said that he had no worldly desires. Just because I have a big blue eagle doesn't mean I'm not a eunuch!
He was even able to spy on his ex-girlfriend, Silk Spectre 2, and Night Owl 2 from the Watchers universe (who is a completely different character from Night Owl from Earth 3 in the DC Multiverse), whispering sweet nothings to each other, and then glaring at the sun without changing color, already far away from people.
As time went by, Dr. Manhattan's control over quantum forces became increasingly vast and profound, and naturally, his emotions became increasingly detached.
Originally, it was more accurate to say that Chen Tao and the Laughing Bat each had their own primary source of power rather than saying that they possessed the quantum power of the quantum bat.
The Batman Who Laughs relied on Perpetua and the absorption of the DC Multiverse Crisis Energy, while Chen Tao's situation is more complex. He possesses the Anti-Monitor's status and all its power, as well as the absorbed DC Anti-Crisis Energy. Perhaps he also has some of the authority and power that the Anti-Monitor plundered from the DC Multiverse during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, plus a bit of the DC Multiverse's Manifest Destiny's favor, Barbatos's dark matter cosmic energy, five-dimensional divine power, and the authority bestowed by the Lady of Death—a whole host of factors, both numerous and complex.
The quantum bats' power greatly amplifies their strength, but it does not dominate the power they wield.
But now, the Batman Who Laughs is drastically altering Chen Tao's history, exerting immense influence on him through the Alfred Accords, and also—
"This must be a side effect of me stealing a large amount of quantum energy from the Batman Dragon."
The Bat of Laughter began to try to curl the corners of his mouth, and he succeeded. He started laughing again, consciously trying to rediscover the joy of laughter. That sharp laughter that had been emanating from the depths of his mind after being infected with the clown virus was like a chilling wind and a cold moon, making you want to laugh out loud from the bottom of your heart, but also making you shiver with cold.
The Bat of Laughter had grown accustomed to that feeling, like someone who had been in a fish market for so long that they no longer smelled the stench. For the Bat of Laughter, that twisted mental state was normal from his perspective. For a long time, nothing had ever been able to shake this twisted state. Even when Chen Tao tried to influence him by creating alternate personalities within him, these abnormal personalities could not shake the Bat of Laughter's main personality.
His dominant personality is like a piece of hard steel, twisted and insane beyond belief. Even with the dilution of quantum divine power, it still cannot change the evil nature of his maniacal laughter.
To some extent, this tenacity is the direct manifestation of the trait that "every Batman's will is incredibly strong and unshakable," a quality directly reflected in The Laughing Man.
After attempting to rediscover some of his madness, the Bat of Laughter continued to think in the same way the Bat of Laughter thought.
He sensed a tiny—
anxiety.
The maniac was fully aware that he possessed the hidden hand of Batman's Dragon. He knew that the other party had been plotting to have these alternate personalities rise up and devour his main personality. Before this, although he was in a bit of a panic, he still easily suppressed the alternate personalities that appeared in his body.
The Batman Who Laughs did not eliminate these alternate personalities because he knew that these personalities were the source of Batman Dragon's confidence to act recklessly. It was because of the existence of these alternate personalities that he was able to be secretly promoted by Batman Dragon and develop to his current state.
But now it's time to eliminate this last hidden danger. Originally, The Bat Who Laughs thought he could deal with these alternate personalities at his own pace after gaining more power, but the sudden anxiety made him decide to eliminate them now.
Yes, he can do it now, and he still can.
Tick.
Unusually cheerful music began to play, the kind of absurd tunes often heard in circuses. The Batman Who Laughs appeared in the dark, damp cage, a prison he had constructed deep within his own mind. He had destroyed all the alternate personalities that Chen Tao, the Batman Dragon, had created within him, and imprisoned them here.
Then the Laughing Bat paused for a moment.
He remembered that he had only captured a few alternate personalities, but there were several here.
Nightwing, Red Hood, and his Alfred, his bat family.
All those people he knew, those he once cherished deep in his heart.
The entire Justice League.
They are now all imprisoned in this prison forged by his mind, and alternate personalities have proliferated.
The Bat Who Laughs's face quickly darkened. Realizing that his alternate personalities were multiplying, he decided he could no longer let things continue.
He felt a vague unease in his heart.
Logically speaking, he sealed these alternate personalities in this mental prison, so they shouldn't be able to take any action at all. They should be as good as dead, let alone proliferate more alternate personalities.
The fact that these alternate personalities have now increased can only mean one thing: there's a mole inside!
He must have overlooked some of these alternate personalities when he was capturing them, leaving a few out. This allowed them to collude with those outside, steal the quantum power and other forces he possessed, and continue to forge new alternate personalities within his body.
But thankfully he discovered it early.
In the blink of an eye, the cage before him shattered, and in the blink of an eye, the laughing bat stood in a pure white field, surrounded by bewildered alternate personalities.
Realizing that some had slipped through the net, the Laughing Bat acted decisively, casting an even larger net in its own mental world, creating this pure white area before it, and catching all the escaped fish along with itself.
The next step is to go on a killing spree.
However, the act cannot be initiated by Kuangxiao himself.
The Batman Who Laughs has vaguely sensed Batman Dragon's intentions: when those alternate personalities die, they forcibly infuse their intense emotions into the main Batman Who Laughs's personality, attempting to corrupt him. Unable to directly modify the Batman Who Laughs's core personality, Batman Dragon uses the corruption of these alternate personalities' deaths as a roundabout way to achieve his goal, ultimately aiming to distort the main Batman Who Laughs's personality.
The Batman Who Laughs imprisoned these alternate personalities partly to make Batman Dragon feel he could control him, and partly because there really wasn't a good quick solution for dealing with these alternate personalities.
But now, the Laughing Bat, who has mastered more quantum power, has come up with some better solutions to bypass the pollution trap that Chen Tao set for him.
The maniac laughed and shook his body. Then, like a clone of Nightwing, the Maniac Nightwing emerged from his body.
If Batman: Dragon created a secondary personality for him, then why can't Batman Laugh create one himself?
It can create more maniacal alternate personalities, using these to withstand the corruption of Batman Dragon's created personalities. With these alternate personalities as a barrier, once the evil alternate personalities destroy its own good alternate personality, it then destroys the maniacal alternate personalities.
Once this is done, the pollution won't reach him.
Simply perfect!
But what the Batman Who Laughs didn't realize was that even in his inner thoughts, he had already called the personality created by Batman Dragon the Good Personality, and the personality he created the Evil Personality.
This line of thinking is already insufficient for The Bat Who Laughs.
