Chapter 465 - 381: The "Little Guy" Territory Raylo Conquered
Far from the terrifying, heart-pounding aura of the Canglan River, Baofeng and Sun seemed to have cast off invisible shackles, their flight becoming much nimbler.
The moisture in the air gradually faded, replaced by the dry scent of rock and timber.
The landscape of forests and plains gave way to rolling hills and mountain ranges.
Several hours passed. When the twin suns overhead nearly converged, casting their most scorching rays, a magnificent vista finally appeared on the horizon.
A vast valley lay nestled among the mountains.
In the distance, thick plumes of cooking smoke could be seen rising from the flatlands outside the valley.
"That must be it."
Raylo patted Baofeng’s neck.
Baofeng and Sun landed silently in a dense forest, still several kilometers from the area.
"Moonlight, it’s your time to shine."
Raylo leaped off Baofeng’s back.
Moonlight, which had been dozing on Baofeng’s back, stretched languidly before hopping lightly to the ground.
The next moment, a soft, silver radiance like flowing moonlight enveloped Raylo and Sun.
Raylo felt a strange, gentle Power seep into every corner of his body.
His perspective rose higher and higher as everything around him seemed to shrink.
The entire process took no more than a dozen breaths. When the silver light faded, a Hill Giant stood in his place. It was nearly ten meters tall, with rock-gray skin and gnarled muscles, exuding a sense of primal power.
This was Carlo, Raylo’s Giant form.
Raylo flexed his enormous hands and feet, feeling the Power coursing through his body. An unprecedented sense of strength filled him.
He glanced down at his palms. They looked like two massive Stone Slabs.
"Awooo..."
Sun hopped onto Raylo’s shoulder, found the hollow of his clavicle, and curled up to take a long nap.
His disguise complete, Raylo signaled to Baofeng and Moonlight.
Baofeng let out a low cry, and with a beat of its wings, it stirred up a gale and shot into the sky, soon vanishing into the clouds high above.
Moonlight’s form flickered, and it squeezed onto Raylo’s other shoulder with Coal Ball and Lightning.
With his preparations complete, Raylo set off with heavy strides toward the distant Giant Tribe.
The thud of his heavy footsteps echoed through the woods.
Soon, he emerged from the forest, and the full vista of the Giant Tribe unfolded before him.
It was a coarse and primitive settlement.
There were no refined houses, only crude huts built from boulders and logs.
Several massive bonfires blazed in the tribe’s clearing. Whole Giant Beasts of a species Raylo didn’t recognize were being roasted over them. Fat dripped into the Flame with a SIZZLE, and the rich aroma of meat mixed with the smoke of burning wood hung in the air.
Dozens of Hill Giants were scattered about the tribe. Some were sharpening immense Stone Axes and Stone Hammers, others were pounding the hide of some unknown beast with massive wooden clubs, but most were gathered in twos and threes, talking and laughing boisterously.
Raylo’s arrival didn’t attract much attention. Some of the Giants who saw him greeted him with a loud "Brother Carlo!"
His gaze quickly locked onto the largest clearing in the center of the settlement.
The atmosphere there was the most animated. Dozens of Hill Giants had formed a large circle, eagerly watching the spectacle within and periodically erupting into deafening cheers.
In the center of the ring, two of the most burly Hill Giants stood bare-chested, locked in a primitive wrestling match.
They gripped each other’s arms and shoulders tightly, their gnarled muscles bulging like tangled tree roots, every fiber straining to its limit.
Their feet were sunk deep into the hard-packed earth, which had begun to crack under the immense strain.
"Hey! Gordo! Put your back into it!"
"Ug! Throw him! Just like you did with that giant rhino!"
The surrounding Giants roared, cheering on their friends.
For a belligerent race like the Hill Giants, these leisurely wrestling matches were as common a pastime as arm-wrestling for humans or harp-playing for Elves.
Raylo’s gaze shifted from the two wrestlers to a pair of Giants standing nearby, watching with great interest, their arms crossed.
It was Kado and Marlin.
Raylo didn’t rush forward. Like the other Giants, he stood on the outskirts of the circle, quietly watching the match.
Gordo and Ug had been locked in a stalemate for a long time, sweat pouring from their bodies.
Their breathing was as labored as a bellows, but neither would yield an inch.
"ROAR!"
Gordo was on the shorter side for a Giant. Even having reached the Domain Level, he was only a little over ten meters tall.
He was using his agility to maneuver around Ug.
Ug seemed to be running out of patience. With a sudden roar, he lunged forward, attempting to end the duel by overpowering Gordo with a shoulder throw.
Seizing the opportunity, Gordo reacted just as quickly. He suddenly clenched his right fist. About three meters in front of him, a mound of earth rapidly swelled up, tripping Ug’s advancing left foot.
Ug instantly lost his balance.
Gordo sank low, planting his legs like iron stakes in the ground.
Then, turning the tables, he put all his strength into his arms, yanking the off-balance Ug toward him.
The match was decided in that single moment.
