Chapter 438: The Shock of the Three!
Chapter 438: The Shock of the Three!
As Ace and Sabo were marveling at this, Luffy twisted his waist in mid-air, extending his right leg dozens of meters backward.
White rubber muscles taut.
A sonic boom exploded.
The extended and retracted right leg transformed into a spring. The heel stepped onto the spine of the horse's spine below.
Nasshoulang's holy cry.
The recoil rippled outwards. The bone horse's spine cracked with a sharp sound. Black, domineering energy shot out in all directions from the point of impact.
Luffy uses the momentum to charge again.
A white afterimage tore through the dark clouds.
A storm raged high above, hurling raindrops and blood down. Maz Saint, transformed into a monstrous bird, circled overhead. His beak opened, and sonic waves brewed in his throat.
Luffy breaks through the air currents.
He swung his arms to the sides. His white arms transformed into chains, which swung in an arc through the air and strangled the strange bird's thick neck.
Mazs screamed. His enormous wings flapped. Black divine power surged along his feathers, corroding Luffy's arm.
Luffy grinned widely, ignoring the strange bird's struggles. Using the momentum of his fall, he slammed the bird hard against the ground.
The sound of the wind passed by.
The ruins below trembled. Peter, transformed into a giant earthworm, emerged from the ground. His gaping maw, filled with sharp teeth, opened wide. Venom gathered between his teeth.
Luffy swung the monster bird's body.
It smashed into the earthworm's giant mouth.
The two demonic bodies collided. A muffled explosion followed. The shockwave flattened the surroundings. Tons of debris were sent flying into the air.
The black divine power dissipated in the collision. The cursed runes lost their luster. The healing of the Five Elders' wounds slowed visibly. Thick blood seeped out from between the scales.
The earth slammed open, creating a massive crater. Lava surged forth from the cracks in the ground. The intense heat distorted the air.
Luffy did another somersault in mid-air. His feet landed on the air.
White hair burning like flames.
The smoke from the northwest corner was dispersed by the strong wind. The smell of sulfur was pungent.
The white-bearded man raised his head, his eyes still fixed intently on the white figure in mid-air.
Luffy's carefree laughter pierced the sky.
The white-bearded man gripped his naginata tightly. His voice was filled with disbelief.
"This kid single-handedly held off those five old monsters."
His voice trembled. He knew all too well the enhanced strength of these five monsters. Not long ago, he had teamed up with Shanks and the other two. The Five Elders, enhanced by Im, had become extremely difficult to deal with. Each of them bore deep wounds.
The current situation is that Luffy alone, with his incredible abilities, can defeat these five even stronger old monsters.
Whitebeard watched Luffy leap through the air, his body gleaming with white light. Images of the shattered old era flashed through his mind. This madness overshadowed his former self.
Scenes from the Marineford War flashed through my mind. The kid who stood in front of the three admirals. Luffy was still weak then, but the hope in his eyes hadn't died.
Now this light illuminates the world.
The white-bearded man felt a burning sensation in his chest.
Shanks' judgment was correct.
The man Shanks chose has awakened.
He straightened up. His bones cracked.
The fighting spirit in his eyes subsided.
Shanks stood to the side and slightly behind the white-bearded man. A gust of wind, carrying the stench of blood, swept past. His empty left sleeve fluttered wildly. Blood seeped from the sword wound on his right arm. The blood stained his white shirt crimson.
His face showed no shock, only the absence of a white beard. His hawk-like eyes softened. A smile curved his lips. Over twenty years of waiting melted away in that smile.
He relaxed his grip on Griffin's hand. The trembling of the blade subsided. He looked up at the dazzling white sun and murmured softly.
"I knew I hadn't misjudged him."
My thoughts drifted back to the East Blue. Windmill Village. A kid slashing his cheek with a knife to prove his courage. A boy crying as he puts on a straw hat at the dock. A voice shouting that he would become the Pirate King.
Now it has grown into a monster that shakes the world.
The life that once needed an arm to protect now stands atop the world through its own strength. Shanks' right arm wound is no longer painful. His gamble on his left arm in the new era has paid off.
Pride shone in his eyes. The scene of Mary Geoise meeting the Five Elders flashed before his eyes. The high and mighty gods were being trampled underfoot by the little devils he had chosen.
His smile widened. He wanted to throw a party and drink several barrels of rum.
Looking at the white figure in mid-air.
The romance of One Piece has reached its climax.
A dozen meters away, on a pile of rubble, the dragon stood amidst the howling wind. Its dark green cloak was tattered, the hem corroded with charred holes by the sacred poison gas of Satan.
His perpetually icy expression softened. His pupils trembled slightly. His gaze locked onto the agile figure in mid-air. It hadn't left Luffy's sight since Luffy appeared.
His Adam's apple bobbed. His tightly pursed lips relaxed. A gust of wind shattered his cold facade. He uttered a few words.
"Luffy has already surpassed me."
He clenched his fists at his sides. The azure wind blades that had gathered at his fingertips dissipated. His chest churned. The pride of an incompetent father surged through his veins.
For the sake of the revolutionary cause, he never fulfilled his responsibilities as a father. He abandoned his child in the East China Sea. He only glanced at the child from afar in the torrential rain of Loguetown, watching the small boat sail towards the Grand Line.
I originally thought this path was a dead end. A child who grew up without a father, through sheer tenacity, reached a height that even the leaders of the revolutionary army could only look up to.
My eyes felt hot. I forcibly suppressed the throbbing in my eyes.
Luffy ruthlessly shattered the Five Elders' formation. The dawn of freedom sought by the Revolutionary Army was now in the hands of this idiot son. Souls enslaved by the Celestial Dragons for eight hundred years finally heard the drums of true liberation.
The dragon inhaled a breath of cold air.
I kept my relief to myself.
The battlefield situation was constantly changing. Whitebeard Shanks and Dragon were positioned differently, but both remained highly alert.
His forward-leaning posture suggests a potential burst of power. Armament Haki emanates from his muscles. If Luffy reveals even the slightest opening, the three powerful warriors will rush to his aid. This battle, concerning the fate of the world, allows no room for error.
The battle resumed in mid-air.
Luffy rolled repeatedly to dissipate the recoil, forcefully stopping his retreat. He then unleashed a white fist crackling with black and red lightning.
He punched Satan Saint in the face as he had just gotten up.
The giant spider's body was blasted away, crashing into and smashing through more than a dozen dilapidated buildings. Green, foul-smelling venom sprayed through the air again, carving trenches thousands of meters deep into the earth.
The three of them stopped in their tracks. Their tense muscles relaxed.
Whitebeard plunged his naginata heavily into the earth. Shanks sheathed his Griffin sword. The dragon dispersed the blue storm surrounding him.
We can only look up to them.
The three powerful figures standing atop the vast ocean had only one word left in their hearts: They gazed at the laughing white figure in the sky. They were no longer the protagonists of this war. The younger generation, who had once protected and watched over them, had taken over the battlefield with absolute power.
All they need to do is stand here and look up.
Look up at the drum of liberation that is about to overturn the world.
