Chapter 765: I’m So Weak
Chapter 765: I’m So Weak
Aqua’s emotions boiled over.
She was about to splash more water on her face when two maids walked by on the stone pathway.
Aqua didn’t pay them any attention at first. She was too lost in her own misery.
But then she heard a name that made her ears perk up.
"Did you hear what the Young Master did?" The first maid whispered. "Apparently, he went after Granny Tiona in Broker Field Alley."
The second maid gasped.
"What? You mean Granny Tiona the weaver? The one who makes all those beautiful blankets?"
"The same. Apparently, she caught the Young Master’s eye, and he’s gone completely after her."
Aqua’s eyes trembled in shock.
Her brother was going after an elderly woman?!
The second maid shook her head in disbelief.
"How can that possibly be? She’s so old. I remember visiting her shop when I was a little girl, and even back then she was quite elderly."
The first maid sighed. "What can I say? Our Young Master truly doesn’t care about appearance or age. As long as he’s interested in someone, he goes all out pursuing them."
She lowered her voice even further.
"Apparently, they even spent a couple of hot, feisty nights together. Alone."
The second maid gasped again, and Aqua felt her own breath catch in her throat.
"No way. You’re joking, right?"
The first maid shook her head solemnly.
"It’s true. That’s what everyone’s been talking about these days."
She shrugged, a reluctant smile on her face.
"But it makes sense. This isn’t the first time, you know. The Young Master truly doesn’t care about identity."
"He’s gone after grandmothers, widows, women of the lowest social standing."
"He’s a man among men—he doesn’t care about appearance, status, or anything like that."
The second maid nodded thoughtfully.
"If someone asked him, ’Would you love me even if I were a worm?’ he’d probably say yes. If anyone in the world would love a worm, it would be our Young Master."
They both giggled and walked away, leaving Aqua frozen behind the bushes.
Her initial shock had curdled into something else.
Something hotter. Something darker.
Anger.
Pure, burning, irrational anger.
This was because she had learned that her brother would go after anyone. He had no standards at all!
He would chase grandmothers, widows, the lowest of the low. He didn’t care about age or appearance or status.
He pursued whoever caught his eye, no matter who they were.
But when it came to her, his own sister, a beautiful woman whom everyone in the capital desired, whom suitors would line up for he showed no interest at all!
She knew it made sense. She was his sister. There were boundaries, taboos, lines that shouldn’t be crossed.
But if he was willing to cross every other line—if he would chase after a grandmother—why couldn’t he chase after her?!
Why couldn’t he look at her the way he looked at other women?
Why couldn’t he flirt with her, tease her, hold her the way he held them?
Why did he treat her like a normal sister, a burden, an obligation?
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got in and in response to that rage the water in the fountain began to rise.
It lifted from the basin in shimmering spheres, floating into the air. The spheres began to vibrate—faster, faster, faster—sending ripples through the air.
Aqua’s hands trembled.
She wanted to punch her brother. She wanted to scream at him. She wanted to grab him by the collar and demand to know why he wouldn’t love her.
She knew her thoughts were strange. Wrong. Inappropriate.
But she couldn’t help it.
The water spheres around her began to shoot in random directions, blasting into trees and bushes, leaving small craters in the grass. She didn’t even notice. She was too lost in her fury.
---
Meanwhile, the two maids who had walked away finally dropped their act.
Once they were out of sight, the second maid turned to the first with a curious expression.
"Why exactly did the young master tell us to say those things in front of Lady Aqua?"
The first maid shrugged.
"I don’t know. The Young Master has his own plans. We can’t figure them out."
She smiled.
"Besides, it wasn’t a complete lie. He really has gone after quite a few older women. The Young Master’s taste is...peculiar."
The second maid giggled.
"That’s true. He’s probably the only man in the world who can honestly say he doesn’t care about appearance."
"He truly cherishes people for who they are."
They walked back toward the mansion.
Behind them, the water in the fountain exploded.
Boom!
Aqua stamped her feet and shot water balls in every direction, blasting the bushes, the stones, the flowers.
Her domain responded to her fury, amplifying her power, making her attacks stronger and more chaotic.
She didn’t know that this was also part of her brother’s plan.
She didn’t know that every frustrated tear, every jealous thought, every angry outburst was bringing her closer to the trap he had carefully laid.
All she knew was that she wanted her brother to look at her.
And the moment she realised that—she made a decision in her mind.
She was going to do it!
She was going to tell her brother everything!
Whatever came afterward, she would deal with it.
Right now, she was overflowing with emotion, a turbulent storm of feelings that needed an outlet.
She couldn’t keep bottling it all inside.
With that motivation burning in her chest, she started pacing toward where Cassius was.
Her mind raced as she walked. She rehearsed the words, playing out different scenarios.
She was going to confess everything—her love, her lust, all the taboo emotions she had for her brother.
How she wanted to hug him, kiss him, make love with him.
How she wanted a future with him, to be by his side forever.
She was going to tell it all!
She felt so fired up. So ready.
Soon, she saw Cassius and Carmela. Carmela was once again sitting on Cassius’s lap, cuddling against him, her face flushed but content.
The sight made Aqua’s motivation flare even brighter.
Cassius noticed her approaching. He saw the fire in her eyes, the set of her jaw, the determined stride.
A smile tugged at his lips.
’Finally.’ He thought. ’It’s time. My sister is finally going to give in—confess what she really wants.’
Everything had gone according to plan.
The ignoring. The jealousy. The isolation. It had all built up to this moment.
He was excited.
But unfortunately for Cassius, things didn’t go as planned.
As Aqua got closer and closer to him, something began to change.
The fire in her heart that had been blazing so brightly started to diminish.
Her pace slowed. The fierceness in her eyes grew dimmer, replaced by something else—uncertainty, fear, doubt.
By the time she was standing right in front of Cassius, all that fiery determination had crumbled to ash.
She looked timid. Flustered. Like a deer caught in headlights.
Cassius noticed the shift. He wanted to help his sister out—to push her past the threshold she couldn’t cross on her own.
So he leaned forward slightly, his voice gentle and encouraging.
"What is it, Aqua? Do you have something to say?" He smiled warmly. "Go ahead. You can say anything to your brother."
Aqua opened her mouth. "I...um...uh..."
Cassius nodded, urging her on.
"Go on, go on. Whatever it is, just tell me. We’ll work through it together."
He tried his best to encourage her, to give her the push she needed.
But Aqua was struggling. The words were there, right on the tip of her tongue—but they wouldn’t come out.
Her throat felt like it was closing up. Her mind went blank.
Finally, she let out a deep, defeated sigh.
"Never mind, Cassius." Her voice was small. "It’s nothing."
Cassius stared at her in dismay. He had been so close. So close.
Aqua walked a few steps, then stopped.
Shame washed over her in waves.
Just moments ago, she had been complaining about how her brother was treating her—how he was ignoring her, how he gave his attention to everyone else.
But now she realized the truth.
She was the problem.
She couldn’t find the courage to confess her emotions.
She couldn’t accept the relationship she truly wanted.
And it wasn’t because she was weak—at least, that’s what she told herself.
It was because what she wanted was taboo.
It went against everything she had been taught was morally right.
She was his sister. Asking for more than that was wrong.
The thought of the future terrified her. How would everyone look at her?
How would Maria look at her? How would Joy?
How would her own mother? How would society judge them—judge her?
And more than that, she thought about how everyone would look at Cassius. How he would look at her.
What if he accepted her confession but felt disgusted deep down?
What if he looked at her strangely for the rest of their lives? What if he regretted it?
The thought made her stomach churn.
All the courage she had built up crumbled completely. She couldn’t help but look sullen, berating herself in her mind.
’Stupid. Stupid. How can you be so weak?’
She looked utterly depressed.
Cassius watched her retreating back and let out a deep sigh.
He had been so sure. He had thought that finally, finally, he was going to get what he wanted.
But even now, she wasn’t giving in.
He shook his head in dismay, but then his expression hardened.
He wasn’t going to give up. There was still a phase two to his plan. And he was sure it had to work.
He turned to Carmela, who was still sitting on his lap, watching the exchange with curious eyes.
"Sorry, Carmela." He said kindly. "I can’t keep you company anymore. I have something to do with my dear sister."
Carmela quickly stood up, flustered.
"I was just about to get up anyway." She said, trying to hide her embarrassment. "
She vanished from the spot like an assassin, which, technically, she was leaving behind only a faint rustle of air.
Cassius stood up and walked toward Aqua. Before she could react, he grabbed her hand.
"Come along, Aqua. We have things to do."
She snapped out of her daze.
"What? Where are we going?"
He just smiled and pulled her along.
They walked back toward the mansion as the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and purple.
Aqua was utterly confused, but she let herself be dragged.
They went up the stairs. Down a corridor. Past paintings and suits of armor and flickering wall sconces.
Then they stopped.
In front of Cassius’s master bedroom.
Aqua’s heart nearly stopped.
Her mind raced.
’Is he going to...does he mean to...is this really happening?’
Her brother was taking her to his bedroom. His private bedroom. The place where he slept.
Where he...did things.
She blushed furiously, her body heating up at the implication.
Was he going to do something private? Something naughty?
Something that she had only dreamed about?
She shook her head, trying to dismiss the thought.
’No, no, there’s no way. He can’t possibly mean that.’
But with how determined he looked...it could be a possibility. And if her brother really did something like that, there was no way she could resist.
Was her first time finally going to happen?
She couldn’t deny the excitement bubbling in her chest. The anticipation. The nervous thrill.
She followed him into the room.
The door closed behind her.
She braced herself, expecting him to pounce on her, to push her onto the bed, to do all the things she had imagined late at night when she couldn’t sleep.
But instead, she looked around—and froze.
She wasn’t alone with Cassius.
There were two other people in the room.
Aisha and Julie sat on one of the sofas in the massive bedroom, looking at her as if they had been waiting for her arrival.
Aisha had her legs crossed, tapping her foot impatiently. Julie was holding a stack of papers, reviewing them with a focused expression.
They both looked up when Aqua entered.
"Finally." Aisha said. "Took you long enough."
Julie nodded. "We’ve been waiting for quite a while."
Aqua’s jaw dropped.
She turned to Cassius, her face cycling through a dozen emotions—confusion, embarrassment, relief, disappointment.
"Cassius? What...What is this? Why are they here?"
