Chapter 732 - 643: Apocalypse Date (5)
"How’s it going over there?"
The blood rain filled the sky, and Chichu Chun came over, raising her gun toward Xu Xiaoyou’s direction.
"I’ve taken care of everything,"
The giant lair occupying the skies over the city collapsed thunderously behind the two girls.
"Leave no survivors, I don’t want to be disturbed in the coming time."
Xu Xiaoyou nodded, and the Extreme Detachment, responsible for battlefield cleanup, lined up to return. After reporting the results, the lieutenant saluted her, and the entire unit burned to ashes in the rising flames and scattered.
A predator flew in, bowed before Chichu Chun, waving scythe-like limbs as if conveying something.
"Looks like there are two slippery fish that got away."
Chichu Chun didn’t rush to pursue them but slowly approached the giant corpse of the Insect Queen. The active skin on her right arm glowed with a purple light, scales rippling like breaths.
She let out a light sigh, thrusting her claws forward, violently piercing the chest of the Insect Queen.
When the claws were withdrawn, a black and purple heart pulsated in Chichu Chun’s hand, exuding a strange aura, as if possessing a seductive magic power.
Xu Xiaoyou silently turned away.
Chichu Chun chuckled lightly, squeezed with slight force, shattering the black and purple heart. Wine-red blood seeped down through the gaps between the black claw tips, streaming into the girl’s mouth, with occasional droplets sliding down her lips, dripping onto the hem of her black skirt, bright and sinister.
After enjoying it, Chichu Chun spread her hands, tossing the Insect Queen’s heart aside. Her compound eyes opened, a pheromone storm several times stronger than before swept across the entire city!
Satisfied, she extended a finger to gently wipe off the bloodstains from the corner of her mouth, her smile becoming more playful.
"Found you."
...
Footsteps echoed in the corridor; death began to strike the black and white piano keys.
Death approached, hovering above the corridor.
Chichu Chun hummed a brisk tune, her gothic short heels tapping lightly on the ground, making a ’dum-dum’ sound. Her skirt swayed between her calves, rising and falling, like a blooming black camellia on a dark stage.
Skeleton earrings clinked, a metallic baton grated against the floor, causing a tooth-aching sound, triangular pupils began to focus. In the darkness, countless hands stretched out, from the floor to the walls, then to the entire ceiling, dragging the girl’s arms and body, stretching her shadow longer and longer...
A skinny figure hid behind the wall, feeling the approaching threat more intensely, clutching the food in her arms, burying her head deeply in her knees, not daring to breathe.
"Where are you hiding?"
Chichu Chun poked her head out, suddenly aiming her gun somewhere; there was nothing there.
"Not here?"
"Are you playing hide and seek with me? I love it, I could play the whole day with you~"
"Darling~ I will find you."
Chichu Chun said, her gaze suddenly chilling and aiming the Witch Slayer at the wall on the right.
Blinding white light exploded abruptly, with a huge boom, and a fierce wind howled into the corridor. As the smoke and dust cleared, a huge gap appeared in the wall, fire tongues burned quietly, licking the air.
"Not here either..."
"Then where..."
Chichu Chun’s eyes lowered, seeming to lose interest, abruptly dashed to the left.
"Here?"
Boom!
The same scene unfolded again; another wall collapsed, the entire floor began to shake precariously.
The skinny figure hiding in the shadows grew more fearful, her shoulders trembling, tightly clutching the bag of food, covering her mouth, tears welling up in the corner of her eyes.
"Not here either."
"Then right here!" Chichu Chun turned around.
Boom!
"Here!"
Boom!
"It must be here, right!"
Boom!
"Not here either?"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Chichu Chun ran and fired at the rooms on both sides of the hallway, waves of explosions swept through one after another, smoke rose and fell, the entire building quaked under the girl’s laughter, with dust occasionally falling from above, quickly swallowed by the flames.
The figure hiding in the shadows felt despair.
She was about to be reached by the explosions.
The explosion sounds grew nearer, less than two meters from her position. Just when she thought she was doomed, the explosion abruptly halted, and the entire building fell silent.
Everything was quiet, as if the drop of a pin could be heard.
"Well, it seems you’re really not here."
"How boring, let’s go." Chichu Chun sighed, lowering the overheated gun barrel, her silhouette gradually fading down the corridor.
The skinny figure peeked out, seeing the girl walk away. The feeling of surviving brought tears to her eyes which she couldn’t suppress, sobbing as she wiped her face, leaving two clear trails across her dust-covered cheeks.
After a long time, she finally stopped crying, clutching the bag of food tightly, preparing to stand up. Her mother was waiting for her to come back...
Suddenly, her body stiffened, her gaze slowly raised, her blood turned cold.
The terrifying red compound pupils reflected her silhouette, imprisoning her within.
"Found you."
"No...please don’t." Tears welled in the corners of the girl’s eyes, she retreated a few steps and sat down against the wall.
Chichu Chun supported her chin, curiously observing the dirty girl. The opponent had a human-like body, the edges of her face covered with Insect Race scales, antennae growing from her forehead, and gill-like organs spread across her chest cavity for breathing. Apart from these features, her appearance closely resembled a human.
"Don’t be so scared, I’m not going to eat you," Chichu Chun smiled as she approached.
She had never seen another being, apart from herself, with such well-developed human features among the Insect Race. Even the high-level members mostly had just upright humanoid bodies, their organs and features developing toward the Insect Race.
This made her curious about the girl before her.
Could it be that newly born high-level Insect Races have evolved to this extent?
Why would a high-level Insect Race appear in such a small Insect Queen’s lair?
"I don’t want to die..." The girl’s voice trembled with a sob.
"Give me a reason." Chichu Chun squatted down, the overheated gun barrel swaying in front of the girl.
"My name is Riko Satou, I haven’t hurt anyone, I was turned into this by them."
"Turned into this?" Chichu Chun raised an eyebrow, "Interesting, go on."
"My mother and I were members of the research station, Station 075. My mother’s identification is recorded in the archives, number X7501; you can check it."
Chichu Chun responded with a few casual ’uh-huhs,’ pointing at the curtain, a swipe of her hand revealing the woman’s gray identification information.
——Wudu Riko
"Last month, or maybe half a month ago, my mother and I followed a research team deep into City 075. We were attacked by the Insect Race, taken to their lair, and when I woke up, I was like this," Riko Satou said with increasing urgency.
"I haven’t harmed anyone!"
"I haven’t harmed anyone... they turned me into this."
"I must go back, my mother is still waiting for me. I need to bring her food; she’s been starving for days..."
Chichu Chun grinned: "Alright, go ahead."
