Chapter 77 Forgotten
Chapter 77 Forgotten
When the old woman brought in the food, Nezuko and Zenitsu were watching helplessly as Inosuke wolfed it down.
"Aren't you going to eat it? If you don't, I'll eat it all, hahaha!"
Inosuke regained some strength and, while stuffing food into his mouth, glanced at the food in Nezuko's bowl and reached out to touch it.
"Snapped!"
Zenitsu, filled with anger, slapped his hand away hard.
"Wild boar, you think you can touch something as small as a bean?"
"Huh? What? You want to fight?"
Inosuke retorted without backing down.
"Come on! I'm not afraid of you! I've had my eye on you for ages!"
Zenitsu, with his neck stiff, shouted.
"Huh? We just met! When did you start disliking me?!"
As Inosuke spoke, he headbutted Zenitsu, their foreheads colliding in a contest.
Mizuko sighed and pushed the food in her bowl to Inosuke, then pulled Zenitsu back to their original seats.
"Alright, alright, stop arguing. Inosuke must be really hungry, it's okay to eat more. Zenitsu, you're badly injured too, eat more to regain your strength."
After much effort, Mi Douzi finally managed to calm the two down.
"Nie Douzi, aren't you going to eat some? I have plenty here, let's eat together."
Zenitsu saw that Inosuke had already started eating the rice balls, so he had no choice but to hand over the rice balls that he hadn't touched.
"You're both injured, so eat more. I'll eat later. I'm going to check on my brother."
Nezuko turned to look at the quiet cubicle. Since Inosuke knocked on the door, her brother hadn't made a sound, which made her feel uneasy.
Zenitsu noticed her worry and quickly nodded, "Don't worry, Nezuko-chan, I'll keep an eye on this guy!"
"Yellow-haired monster, who are you calling a monster!" Inosuke muttered indignantly, his mouth full of rice balls.
"Eat yours!"
"snort!"
Seeing that the two had finally calmed down a bit, Midouzi walked to the door of the cubicle and gently knocked: "Knock knock knock."
There was no movement from inside the door, and Mi Douzi frowned.
"Brother, I'm coming in."
She opened a crack in the door, just wide enough for one person to pass through, and stepped inside. The sight that met her eyes made her heart skip a beat.
At this moment, Tanjiro was lying on the ground with his eyes wide open in horror, his expression ferocious, staring intently at the void in front of him.
"elder brother!"
Midouzi exclaimed in surprise and immediately rushed over to hug him, frantically checking his body.
"Brother, what happened? Are you hurt?"
But she looked at it over and over again, and there were no marks on Tanjiro's body at all.
"Nee-douzi...I...I think I've forgotten something?"
Tanjiro covered his head, slowly turned his head, clenched his teeth, and his voice was full of pain.
Midouzi's expression froze instantly, and she quickly asked softly.
"What has my brother forgotten?"
She could clearly feel her brother's body trembling, and her heart ached terribly.
"I...I don't know...but I feel that thing is important, it's important to all of us!"
Tanjiro slowly relaxed his body, shaking his head, his face full of confusion and anxiety.
All night long, he was desperately trying to recall everything from his birth to his parents' faces and voices.
She remembers every little detail about the births of her younger siblings.
But there's one thing that's shrouded in a thick fog, and I just can't remember it.
And that forgotten matter seems to be closely related to the Kamado family.
"Is it important to us?"
Mi Douzi murmured the same sentence over and over, her brows furrowed. She couldn't figure out what her brother was talking about, so she could only gently pat his back and comfort him.
Tanjiro gradually calmed down and looked up at Nezuko.
"Niedouzi, is there anything very important in our house?"
"Important? What aspect are you referring to, brother?" Midouzi asked, puzzled.
Tanjiro couldn't quite explain it, but whenever he tried to think about "important things," a warm image of his home would automatically appear in his mind.
His family is clearly the most important person in his life, and these memories are intact, but the sense of loss lingers and even subtly affects his body.
During each battle, I always have an urge to follow some vague memory.
Seeing Tanjiro fall silent, Nezuko quietly stayed by his side.
As night deepened, Tanjiro emerged from his cubicle and saw Inosuke relentlessly challenging Nezuko.
He also heard about Midouzi's idea to create his own breathing method and immediately expressed his full support.
But the sense of loss in his heart remained heavy, and he still couldn't remember that important thing.
Not far away, Nezuko was constantly asking Inosuke about his experience with his self-created breathing technique, while instinctively blocking his attacks and gradually figuring out her own rhythm.
"Tanjiro!"
At that moment, Zenitsu slowly walked over.
"Zenitsu, what's wrong?"
Tanjiro looked at his awkward and hesitant manner with some confusion.
"Um... um..."
Zenitsu stammered for a long time, his words circling around in circles, which only made Tanjiro more confused.
"Zenitsu, are you feeling unwell?"
"No! It's just... it's just that Midouzi Jiang..."
"Nie Douzi? What happened to her?"
Tanjiro watched as Zenitsu's face turned bright red, unable to utter a complete sentence, and looked at Nezuko with some curiosity.
But that one look left him stunned.
Every breath Midouzi took was just like the one she took at home.
A breathing method that completely abandons water breathing.
But it was this scene that reminded Tanjiro of what he had told Nezuko: that their father had taught them to breathe.
Yes, learning to breathe, that's all. But we weren't practicing swordsmanship back then, so why did we need to learn to breathe? Nezuko did it to help her mother take care of her younger siblings, so why should I... why should I learn to breathe?
As Tanjiro thought this to himself, he couldn't help but look down at his hands.
[Am I supposed to burn charcoal and chop wood? No, no, no, these things don't require much effort from me. I... learn to breathe!]
The more Tanjiro thought about it, the less he could remember. He felt as if the truth he was looking for was being blocked by an invisible wall.
However, just as he was thinking this, Zenitsu patted Tanjiro on the shoulder.
Tanjiro snapped out of his daze and saw Zenitsu with a mournful face, holding a chirping sparrow in his hands.
Soon, Tanjiro noticed that the kasugai crow, which Nezuko called Pink, had landed on Nezuko's shoulder.
Meanwhile, Inosuke's Kasugai crow hovered in mid-air, reluctant to come down.
"This is?"
"The Demon Slayer Corps has arrived with a mission!"
"Nie Douzi stepped forward and explained, and then Xiao Fen flapped her wings and cried out."
"Gah! Gah! Gah! Mount Natagumo! Gah! A demon has appeared! Ten Demon Slayers are missing! Gah! Gah! Demon Slayers in the vicinity, proceed to Mount Natagumo immediately to rescue your comrades!"
